NEMCSA Head Start - Big Rapids Local Program Options Big Rapids 1 or Big Rapids 2 Head Start Center: Each of these classrooms operates 2 half-day sessions (either morning or afternoon), Monday through Thursday. The programs are housed at Hillcrest Elementary School and the MOISD Education Center. There is one session at Hillcrest that is primarily made up of three-year-olds. The program begins in early September and continues until the first part of June. Both of these programs offer transportation on our own Head Start bus for those that live within the city limits or can be fit into a bus route that will meet licensing regulations. Transportation is not guaranteed. Big Rapids FSU Center: This program is designed to meet the needs of student parents who need a full day of care for their child. Head Start programming is from 7:45AM- 2:00PM Monday through Friday. Tot's Place Child Development Center offers Wraparound Childcare from 2:00 - 5:30 PM. There is a fee for this additional care. The program starts on the first day of classes for fall semester at FSU and ends in mid-May, following the FSU calendar as much as possible. There is a holiday break and spring break built into the school year. This program is parent-transport. NOTE: Acceptance into this program is contingent upon having a signed wraparound childcare contract returned to Tot's Place. Continued enrollment in this program is contingent upon returning a signed wraparound contract for each successive FSU semester. Big Rapids Full Year Center: This program is designed to meet the needs of working parents that need continuous full-day care for their child for the full year, including summers. Head Start programming is 7:45AM- 2:00PM Monday through Friday. Tot's Place Child Development Program offers Wraparound Childcare from 2:00 - 5:30 PM. There is a fee for this additional care. Children accepted into this program start in mid-August and continue enrollment into the following August. There are limited days off in which Head Start is not in session. However, there is a holiday break and summer break built into the schedule. This program is parent-transport.
