Local Head Start Program Officer Information

Each parent group will elect a group of officer's during a meeting. Training will be held for all officers, providing you with information on what your responsibilities are.

Chairperson

The chairperson is the person in charge of running the local parent group meetings and keeping them focused on the agenda items. You will work with the program staff in formulating a meeting agenda and preside over the meetings.

Vice Chairperson

The Vice Chairperson is responsible for running the meetings should the chairperson be unable to attend. Another duty of the Vice-Chairperson may be to assist staff with parent involvement and volunteer issues. This could involve making phone calls to parents in your program to inform them of upcoming events and assisting with the local newsletter.

Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for taking minutes during the meetings, keeping a record of any decisions made. It is also their job to read at each meeting the minutes from the previous meeting. They also handle any correspondence necessary. This may include thank-you notes to speakers, ect.
